Welcome to North Shore

The North Shore is the coast of Oahu known for big waves and professional surfing contests at Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach. The North Shores beauty and scenery help you to relax and escape the fast pace of Honolulu and the rest of the island. People & Lifestyle

There is one road that runs into, out of, and through the North Shore, Kamehameha Highway. The North Shore is comprised of two towns, Haleiwa and Laie. The North Shore is not a “small town” as it stretches over 25 miles but has a country charm to it and does not resemble anything of a big city, and that’s how residents like to keep it. The North Shore is a place to get away, relax, and not worry about all the materialistic things that elsewhere hold such significance.

Entertainment & Shopping

Haleiwa town is a popular tourist spot with a variety of boutiques, gift shops, restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores. Although Haleiwa town has gone through renovation over time it has maintained it’s small town charm. You’ll find food trucks and pop-up shops on the side of the road with delicious bites to eat or drink!

In Haleiwa Town is the famed Matsumoto’s Shave Ice. Matsumoto’s Shave Ice first opened on February 13, 1951. Matsumoto’s Shave Ice originally opened as a convenience store called Matsumoto Store Inc. but grew to be the shave ice place, we all know and love as their family grew. Matsumoto’s Shave Ice is a staple for Haleiwa Town and the North Shore.

Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck started driving around the North Shore in 1953 and has been a beloved staple for the North Shore ever since. In 1996 Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck decided to park permanently in historic Kahuku town and has since opened a second location in Haleiwa town. Giovanni’s is known for it’s garlic shrimp, shrimp scampi, and spicy shrimp all served with rice!

Things to Do

When the surf is small or flat there is nothing more fun than climbing up and jumping off the top of “Jump Rock” at Waimea Bay Beach Park. Waimea Bay Beach Park is a popular park to spot dolphins and turtles and is a calm surf spot during the summer, however, there are big waves in the winter months.
